'Paint, Paper, Stone' Hamilton Lippett Exhibition 10 May - 15 May 2010 'Paint, Paper, Stone' Julia Hamilton and Andrea Lippett Julia Hamilton and Andrea Lippett would like to invite you to their exhibition of paintings and sculpture at the Coningsby Gallery between the Monday 10th May until Saturday 15th May, 2010. The Private View will be on Tuesday 11th May from 6pm until 9pm. The exhibition will otherwise be open and invigilated by the artists between 12noon until 6pm daily (Saturday until 3pm). Julia Hamilton Julia Hamilton works in painting and printmaking. Her work has recently turned to a more personal and reflective gaze. Inspired by her life around her, she pools from personal memories, dreams, significant objects, and landscapes to create work that is charged with a strong sense of psychological significance. A car in a landscape, birds in a park, a yellow coat, a life to be remembered in incidental detail. Julia has exhibited at such shows as The Royal Academy Summer Exhibition, Sarah Myerscough, The Arts Club, Transition Gallery and The Discerning Eye at The Mall Galleries. She has twice been short listed for the John Moores prize for painting. She studied at City and Guilds School of Art, London and Central St Martins. Andrea Lippett Andrea Lippett is primarily a sculptor in stone, but life drawing and work in plaster and clay form an essential part of her practice. She draws inspiration in her figurative and abstract work from the human figure, wildlife and objects from the past and her many travels. Her fascination for stone is rooted in the variety of textures, colours available, the sheer scale of their history of formation, and the tension between strength and vulnerability in each. Andrea has exhibited in galleries in London, Whitstable and Canterbury and has pieces in private collections across the UK and abroad. She has been commissioned for a national award and has contributed to a prize winning album cover.
