CURRENTLY SHOWING: CC: CGI / Crowther Created: Computer Generated Imagery
This exhibition by ground-breaking computer generated (CG) image-maker Peter Crowther is a unique example of CGI being deservedly recognised at – and elevated to – the level of fine art.
Peter’s work is extremely diverse, ranging from highly conceptual, message-orientated, and lyrical image-making through to more linear and narrative-driven illustration. He is at the forefront of this medium; after graduating from the Royal College of Art with an MA (DES RCA) in Graphic Design, he began his career at Decode Design, one of the first multimedia design companies in London, where he beta tested the first version of Photoshop. Six months later, his career as a freelance illustrator and animator kicked off when he created his first large scale series of surreal photomontages for the flagship Virgin Megastore.
The exhibition is comprised of some 40 pieces spanning Peter’s illustrious career as a CG artist commissioned by some of the world’s leading companies. Amongst other projects, he has worked on stamps for the Royal Mail, billboards for P&O, and title sequences for the BBC and Channel 4. Peter continues to use cutting edge 3D software, and takes an active role beta testing. Having direct dialogue with the software engineers and chief scientists has led to new feature development and a streamlined user interface.
All works in the exhibition are available to be purchased framed and unframed, granting an opportunity for market professionals, commissioners and the public to access and purchase work by one of the most renowned and exciting CG image-makers practising today.
