Gareth Edwards: Terra Lumina

‘Terra Lumina’, paintings by Gareth Edwards is his first solo exhibition at Jill George Gallery and are inspired by the beauty of the landscape and seascape of the South Coast of Cornwall, where he lives and works.

This new series of paintings are of sunburnt lands, of exposed spaces, haunting woodlands and neglected pastures. It is as though the world is re-inventing itself with elements of regrowth and optimism to be nurtured and celebrated.

The paint is rich, some combed with impasto and with ash, granite and earth added to the surfaces.

These are contemporary landscape paintings full of emotional meaning and involve the viewer, draws you in, seduces you and finally uplifts you.

Jill George Gallery was established in 1974 in Soho, within the heart of the West End of London. The Gallery now organises exhibitions in and around the West End of London in ‘pop up’ locations and continues to participate in International Art Fairs. The Gallery exhibits paintings, drawings, monoprints, limited edition prints by British Contemporary artists from the established artist to the recent graduate; both figurative and abstract work is represented.
