Choca-Block

After the over whelming success of the ‘We’re Still Alive!’ collective’s first ever annual winter show, (‘We’re Still Alive!’ presents ‘Our Hidden World’), held in Birmingham last year. The collective has decided to roll up its sleeping bag, pack all artwork and possessions into its knapsack and travel down to London to seek fame and fortune in the second annual winter show, ‘We’re Still Alive!’ presents ‘Choca- Block’. The collective’s second winter show will be a festival of art, with walls packed head to toe in a plethora of work produced by the diverse mix of artists that the ‘We’re Still Alive!’ represents. Less of an assault on the senses, more of an exiting trip into another world, the ‘Choca- Block’ world of the ‘We’re Still Alive!’ collective.

We lovingly invite you to join us, in this our unique world of paint, pens, pencils, ink and pixels at the Coningsby Gallery, 30 Tottenham Street, London, from the 26th Nov- 2nd Dec (Private View Tues 28th Nov, 6.30pm- 9.30pm). We’ll be waiting for you with arms held out and a warm smile!

‘We’re Still Alive!’ is a collective of around 20 newly graduated fine artists and illustrators predominantly based in and around The Midlands. The primary objective of forming ‘We’re Still Alive!’ is to display the huge array of fresh and innovative work being realised by individuals who are starting out on the path towards a career in the arts. The collective has no restrictions on the style or form of work that is produced, and so represents a rich and diverse mix of artists who create artwork in a variety of media, from video installations to large scale paintings and illustrations produced on everyday objects. ‘We’re Still Alive!’ members have already taken part in a number of high profile exhibitions in Birmingham, Cambridge, London, Luxembourg and America. Including The Celeste Art Prize, AOI New Talent exhibition, and Creative Alliance-After Hours.

‘We’re Still Alive!’ represents the unseen, and the unexposed. The collective aims to challenge traditional ideas of ‘safe’ and marketable art and sets no boundaries on member’s freedom to express themselves and their ideas the way they want. We hope that our exhibitions are a way of letting the world know we exist, that our art is important, and that our work has something to say. ‘We’re Still Alive!’ hopes to continue exhibiting work around the country, becoming an inspiring, continually interesting, evolving and powerful force representing the young, experimental and inspirational.
