Cream: Whipped

Cream Athens is pleased to present Whipped, a major exhibition of new works by 24 artists at The Coningsby Gallery at 30 Tottenham Street, London. This year, our annual exhibition intends to explore ‘nowness’ across multidisciplinary art practices. This second edition of the now annual show, which follows the format established by the platform’s successful first annual show ‘The Neoprotofeminist’, will unfold over 5 days full of art, workshops and networking events. The title of the show ‘Whipped’ is very much connected with CREAM being more established and ready for creating strong connections with London, Greece and other countries. As CREAM expands, we will see the 2019 programme strengthening its ties with the continent and embracing of its origins which proudly positions itself at the cross-section of contemporary visual art practices.

This year CREAM is inspired by its origins, Athens and the words of the ancient Greek philosopher Heraclitus, ‘Everything is in a state of becoming’ or in other words ‘Ta panta rhei’. He was the first writer to speak about the fluid nature of things. He proclaimed- ‘No man ever steps in the same river twice, for it’s not the same river and he’s not the same man.’ In essence, what we live at this moment will not come back again as it. The way we think, we express ourselves, the relationship we have with others, ourselves and our environment. Nothing is forever and everything is in a state of a constant and continuous change.
