Katrine Levin Galleries presents ‘Chen Li: Paintings from the Heart’
Katrine Levin Galleries is delighted to bring paintings and woodblocks by Royal Academy shortlisted Chinese artist Chen Li to the Coningsby Gallery between 18 June to 1 July 2017.
Chen Li (b.1971) lives and works in the spectacular beauty of Kunming, the capital of China’s Yunnan Province.
Rooted in Eastern philosophies, Chen Li explores a unique visual language through the abstract and gestural qualities of Chinese ink painting and the colours and textures of Western oil painting. Chen Li’s paintings defy any one style.
“Just like writing a love letter, content is the key; what pen you use is not important. I paint to fully express my ideas, my hopes. Chinese art and Western art have different views about reality. But when I paint, I ignore both man-made and natural rules to create living artistic images.”
In his first year on the international stage, Chen Li’s works have been placed in significant private collections in England, Italy and the United States. His work has been shortlisted by the Royal Academy for the Summer Exhibition, with the final results being announced in June.
The private view will take place on 22nd June 2017 at 6pm to 8.30pm. Please contact firstname.lastname@example.org to be put on the guestlist.
