Lucy Kent / Chasing Light
Lucy trained originally in portraiture at the Charles H Cecil Studios in Florence, and afterwards at London Fine Art Studios. She has worked successfully for the last decade taking commissions across different subject matter, figurative and abstract. Her work hangs in both private and commercial collections in the UK and abroad.
Following her first and near sell-out solo show in 2014, this exhibition will comprise a collection of contemporary landscape paintings from her travels over the last 2 years including scenes from Ibiza, Holland, South Africa and France.
This year has been exciting so far; Lucy was chosen as a wild card for the Sky Arts Landscape Artist of the Year Award, on Sky Arts television, which airs on Tuesday 11th October. Lucy has also just been selected to exhibit at the prestigious Royal Insitute of Oil Painters Exhibition at The Mall Galleries 30th November – 11th December 2016.
‘I am drawn to nature, particularly dramatic light, often painting at sunrise or sunset. I enjoy the challenge of capturing these fleeting moments en plein air, getting the paint down as quickly as the light changes in an energetic and vibrant response to what is directly infront of me. I also use a palette knife to build texture. Colour and light are my driving forces and main inspiration.’
The exhibition will run from 21st - 26th November, open daily from 10am until 6pm, Mondays to Fridays.
The Private Views will be held on Tuesday 22nd November and Thursday 24th November, from 6pm-9pm.
