Putting Humans at the Center / Pierre Pourquery
–
Opening times 10am - 6pm
In a world where technology increasingly dominates our lives and work, where burnout and stress have reached crisis levels with severe impacts on individuals, organizations, and society, it is time to pause, reflect, and refocus on what matters most: us, as humans, and how we navigate this complex world. This exhibition arrives at a critical moment when the balance between technological advancement and human wellbeing has never been more precarious, and when the need for authentic connection and self-reflection has never been more urgent.
P.P.Land offers a distinctive perspective on our contemporary reality, embodying a unique fusion of corporate insight and artistic vision that few artists can claim. He is not only an accomplished artist well-known in the French artistic scene (though new to London), but also deeply rooted in the realities of the working world. His career spans leadership roles as a Partner at both Boston Consulting Group and EY, where he witnessed firsthand the pressures and transformations shaping modern professional life. Beyond consulting, his entrepreneurial ventures in beauty salons and FinTech, his direction of the environmental organization Watertrek, and his experience as a semi-professional tennis player have given him an unusually broad perspective on human performance, ambition, and the pursuit of excellence across diverse domains.
Drawing from this multifaceted background, Pourquery has developed an innovative artistic philosophy centred on art as a catalyst for positive transformation; helping individuals, organizations, and society achieve their highest potential. Unlike traditional artists who create solely for aesthetic appreciation, P.P.Land deliberately crafts his work to provoke thought, inspire change, and challenge viewers to reconsider their relationship with the world around them.
He creates bespoke collections and unique canvases tailored to align with each client’s specific goals and aspirations, transforming art from a passive observation into an active tool for personal and organizational development.
His distinctive technique seamlessly integrates acrylic paints with textured resin and digital components, producing neo-impressionist works that radiate contemporary dynamism. The layered textures of acrylic and resin create depth and complexity that mirror the multifaceted nature of modern human experience, while the digital elements speak to our technologically integrated present.
Through this masterful synthesis of traditional methods and modern innovation, his pieces evoke powerful emotions and create immersive experiences that transcend conventional artistic boundaries, inviting viewers into a dialogue rather than simply presenting them with a finished statement.
“Humans at the Center” includes examples of five thematically rich collections, each addressing fundamental questions about our place in the contemporary world:
Modern Heroes presents “ordinary” people (police officers, armed forces personnel, even housekeepers) as the true heroes of our time, challenging and transcending conventional perceptions of heroism. In an age obsessed with celebrity and social media influence, this collection reminds us that genuine heroism often resides in the quiet dedication of those who serve their communities daily, often without recognition or fanfare.
Shades of Tomorrow symbolizes the urgent call for ecological awareness and humanity’s need to restore harmony with nature. As climate change accelerates and our disconnection from the natural world deepens, these works serve as visual meditations on what we stand to lose and what we might yet preserve if we act with intention and care. Communion in London celebrates genuine human connection, where food, wine, and space converge to create the conditions for true communion between people. In a city often characterized by its pace and anonymity, this collection captures those rare moments when barriers dissolve and authentic connection flourishes, reminding us of our fundamental need for community and shared experience.
Animal Proximity explores the complex and evolving relationship between humans and animals, urging us to reconsider the boundaries we’ve drawn between ourselves and other species. As we face both the extinction crisis and breakthroughs in understanding animal consciousness and emotion, these works challenge us to expand our circle of empathy and moral consideration.
Moments of Doubt, perhaps the most personally resonant collection for many viewers, explores the emotional and psychological strain of navigating today’s complex professional landscape. Modern careers are marked by conflicting expectations: between collaboration and personal ambition, work-life balance and constant availability, corporate goals and personal values. These paintings give visual form to the internal tensions that so many professionals experience but rarely articulate, creating space for recognition, validation, and ultimately, conversation about how we might design more humane working environments. Behind this exhibition, P.P.Land has a clear and compelling mission: using art to transform people, organizations, and society for the better. He believes that art possesses unique power to bypass our rational defences and speak directly to our deeper selves, opening possibilities for change that purely intellectual or managerial approaches cannot access.
