Xinkeyi Yan (Lily), Pomegranate and Silence
–
Opening Times
Mon 22nd - Sat 27th June / 10.00am - 6.00pm
This series uses lilies, pomegranates, and the female body as its main visual elements to explore the emotional labour and silence that are carried within family structures. The lily symbolises expectations of purity, gentleness, and obedience, while the pomegranate points to the body, fertility, desire, and the experience of being looked at. Through painting, fabric, and embroidery, the works transform soft materials into bodily surfaces, presenting how women’s emotions are hidden, suppressed, and repeatedly stitched together within family relationships.
